Project overview

Specialist information deserves a clear, welcoming home. For Eksteen Optometrists in Rondebosch, Cape Town, that means helping patients and referring professionals explore the practice, understand its areas of care and find a useful next step.

The website brings those journeys together through a navy-and-gold visual identity, generous typography, structured content and interactive explanations.

Website design and development

Cape Digital Works designed and developed the Eksteen Optometrists website, including its information architecture, responsive presentation and interactive educational experiences.

The experience combines a clear practice introduction with dedicated sections for services, specialist care, patient information and professional referrals. Navigation groups related topics, while contact links stay close to the information a visitor is reading.

The responsive layout adapts the desktop navigation and content to smaller screens. Text-size, high-contrast and reduced-motion controls give visitors additional choices about how they use the site.

Interactive learning

The Explore Your Vision collection brings together eight educational tools covering eye anatomy, visual changes, prescriptions, contact lenses, lens concepts, childhood myopia, eye comfort and care guidance. Specialist pages connect relevant concepts to keratoconus, orthokeratology and myopia management.

The tools explain ideas through simplified visual examples. They are educational and do not diagnose an eye condition or replace an eye examination.

Features in the live experience

  • Structured practice, service and specialist-care pages.
  • Eight interactive educational tools and a guided care chooser.
  • Information for referring professionals and clear contact routes.
  • Responsive desktop and mobile layouts.
  • Visitor controls for text size, contrast and motion.

Appointments are arranged directly with the practice. The educational tools support understanding; they do not diagnose conditions or replace an eye examination.

Technology behind the experience

The reviewed source uses Next.js App Router, React and TypeScript. Content pages are exported as static files, with React components adding interaction. The contact-lens scene uses Three.js and WebGL, while local CSS defines the visual presentation.

PHP enquiry handlers are also present in the source. Their live delivery configuration was outside this portfolio review. No measured traffic, conversion, performance or clinical results are claimed.
